The four astronauts aboard the Orion spacecraft have completed their mission around the Moon and are expected to land off the coast of San Diego on Friday at 8:07 p.m. US Eastern Time (1:07 a.m. BST Saturday).
The landing sequence, beginning with the separation of the European Service Module, lasts approximately 42 minutes.
Re-entry and subsequent landing are considered the most dangerous part of the Artemis II mission, with the Orion capsule enduring temperatures of nearly 2,760°C, or about half the temperature of the Sun.
