Children of LGTBQ+ Advocate Sen. Ron Wyden Allegedly Drove Assistant to Suicide with Homophobic Taunts
A trial alleys that the children of the American senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) harassed their mother’s personal assistant with homophobic taunts and “sexually explicit” comments, leading him to suicide.
Details of the trial, reported by the New York PosT, presents a striking contrast with the Senator Wyden file, who was a long -standing defender of the congress in favor of gay, lesbian and transgender issues.
For two years, ending in 2024, Brandon O’Brien, thirty-five, worked for Nancy Bass Wyden, the wife of the senator and owner of the Strand bookstore in Manhattan.
O’Brien tasks included the driving of the couple’s young children in New York and watching them at Disney World, according to the Job.
The trial was filed by O’Brien’s husband, Thomas Malzos, against Bass Wyden and his company, Bass Real Estate LLC, before the Manhattan Superior Court.
This alleges that the disturbing behavior of the couple’s children began about three months after O’Brien took the job in 2022, when the couple’s ten -year -old daughter “exposed himself” to the assistant and made explicit comments when she had asked him about her “intimate” life.
Maltezos alleges in the trial that the mother did nothing in front of the incident.
In addition, Wydens’ teenage son reprimanded O’Brien with homophobic insults such as “Fagot” and “Zest Kitten”, says the costume. The boy would also have threatened that his football team “violates” the assistant.
The son’s behavior was so out of control that his mother had to “chew” his son once, but inadvertently, Masped O’Brien in the process, according to court documents.
Calling the trial “without foundation and deeply wrong”, the lawyers of Bass Wyden sought to have Malzos’ trial rejects, according to the judicial archives. They argue that it is a coverage for the “serious fault” of O’Brien, allegedly a “flight model” of the household.
When O’Brien finally resigned from frustration a year ago, Bass Wyden, 64, filed a report to the NYPD the next day, “accusing him of having stolen $ 650,000 in credit card and other flights, the authorities said.”
It started a harassment scheme with the eminent businesswoman who has disseminated “false rumors” about him, according to the trial.
O’Brien committed suicide at the end of May, seven months after leaving the post. The authorities abandoned the flight case after suicide. Malzos’ lawyers argued that the accusation was false.
“The allegations against the senator’s wife are shocking, disturbing and cruel – no one should ever be subject to this level of harassment, even less at work,” the lawyers of Malzos said in a statement.
Senator Ron Wyden, 76, was elected to Congress in 1981 and he married Bass Wyden in 2005. “The couple has three children in addition to the two adult children of Ron Wyden of his first marriage,” said Job.
THE Job reported that “the senator and his wife have a house in Portland”, but Bass Wyden’s social media show that she visits New York to take care of the company that her family founded 98 years ago.
Senator Wyden, a progressive democrat, was a frequent critic of President Donald Trump about immigration, the Epstein case and Doge’s endowment cuts.
Ironically, given the trial and the so -called homophobic declarations of his children in late 1995, Wyden became the first American candidate in the Senate to publicly support homosexual marriage.
He also presented a bill in June calling for sanctions to foreign countries that violate the “human rights of LGBTQI +communities” around the world.
He recently collected generalized television coverage by fighting with the Secretary of Health and Social Services Robert Kennedy Jr. at a surveillance hearing this month.
During the hearing, Wyden said that “every day” Kennedy was in office, he took measures that “endangers the health and well-being of American families”.
