‘Sheep Detectives’ stars Hugh Jackman, Chris O’Dowd, and Nicholas Braun play Pop Mash

Focusing on a flock determined to solve the case of their murdered shepherd, Sheep Detectives is a very fun new film. To celebrate its theatrical release, entertainment editor Kristy Puchko spoke with three of the film’s stars, Hugh Jackman, Chris O’Dowd and Nicholas Braun, to play Mashable’s Pop Mash.

Puchko provides Jackman, O’Dowd and Braun with a description of the film that extracts details from two separate films. What these two films have in common is one word in their titles; When the films are combined, you get a new mash-up title.

For example: Nicolas Cage plays a lovestruck celestial creature in this drama, in which he helps a Los Angeles baseball team achieve victory.

The answer: City of Angels in the outfield.

For Sheep detectives, Puchko customized the clues so that at least one title in each description featured Jackman, O’Dowd or Braun.

Here are the Pop Mash puzzles they faced:

• This Wallace and Gromit The spin-off focuses on a fluffy farm animal who leads a murder investigation when his beloved shepherd is found dead.

• In this wild comedy, Steve Martin plays the titular patriarch, who goes crazy as his daughter – played by Kristen Wiig – wonders how to be the maid of honor at her best friend’s wedding. Chris O’Dowd plays the role of a nice cop.

• Nicolas Braun stars as Jim Henson and Andy Kaufman in this comedy-drama about what happens when zombies invade a sketch comedy series. George Romero directs.

• With songs like “This Is Me,” this catchy musical stars Hugh Jackman as a circus founder who wears a red cape as he fights for Metropolis as a superhero. Michael Shannon plays the role of the evil General Zod.

• Ben Stiller and Cameron Diaz fall in love in this zany romantic comedy about a magical English nanny who returns to visit a family who once saw her taking off with her umbrella.

• Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson play a Neil Diamond cover band in this neo-noir from David Lynch, where Dennis Hopper is a deranged poppers-blowing gangster.

• A school for super-powered teenagers could be where teenager Will Stronghold finds his inner hero. But how will he handle the situation when a revenge-seeking cowboy challenges him to a midday shootout?

• In this comedy anthology, Hugh Jackman plays a man with balls hanging under his chin, while Tom Selleck, Steve Guttenberg and Ted Danson play a trio of eligible bachelors who are overwhelmed by the task of caring for a baby.

• The God of Thunder returned for this critically panned sequel, which earned an Oscar nomination for John Lithgow’s performance as a transgender former football player.

• This Pixar film about a young girl capable of transforming into a large fluffy animal surprised audiences and critics with its mature subject matter. Written and directed by Kevin Smith, this film embarks on the story of a Christian sect, armed with sexy girls and numerous weapons.
