The U.S. Secret Service said shots were fired Sunday morning in Lafayette Park, just north of the White House.

Agency spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said no one was injured in the incident, which occurred shortly after midnight.

Authorities said no suspects were arrested after a search of the park and surrounding blocks.

The Secret Service said it was searching for a person of interest and a vehicle in connection with the shooting. The Metropolitan Police and the United States Park Police are assisting in the investigation.

President Trump was staying at the White House at the time of the shooting, officials said. Mr Guglielmi said security had been increased in light of the incident.
