Siri’s New Features May Include Adding Voice Controls to Apps

Apple is testing new features for its SIRI assistant with popular applications – including Uber, Facebook and YouTube – which would make it possible to use third -party applications with voice commands, according to a Bloomberg report.

The tests are carried out with the aim of publishing an SIRI reworked in the spring of 2026 which uses the intention of Apple applications to extend what Siri can do outside the operating system and Apple’s first part applications. For example, people could be able to publish Instagram comments or make purchases using only their voice, which Siri cannot yet do with most applications that Apple has not developed, according to the report.

A representative for Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comments.

Apple showed a demo of this type of feature last year, but the overhaul may not arrive before 2027. According to Mark Gurman de Bloomberg, there are internal doubts among Apple engineers on the fact that the functionality will work well enough, especially in applications where errors could be costly or harmful, such as health or bank applications.

Gurman stresses that if the company does things correctly, it would be a major feature that could give Apple, “a new voice interface first … It could potentially be a success that many users have not seen to come,” he wrote.

Even if Apple succeeds in reorganizing Siri with new features that customers find a great improvement, the company will under pressure from competitors on the front of artificial intelligence.

“Apple should be worried, and it seems that they are,” said Vikas Sharma, principal director of patent services at when Ary Peak Research. “Chatgpt, Gemini, Copilot and Alexa are all ahead of Siri in the AI race.”

Sharma expressed doubts that a spring 2026 version would include all that users could expect from a significant Siri renovation. “At this stage, there is no update on the ability to come exciting, so the version can end up being increasing rather than revolutionary,” explains Sharma.
