Supreme Court reverses lower court ruling, hands Chevron victory in environmental lawsuit

The Supreme Court ruled in favor of Chevron on Friday in a case over whether a Louisiana environmental lawsuit could proceed in federal court.

In the case of Chevron USA Inc. v. Plaquemines Parish, judges ruled the case fell under the Federal Officers Removal Act, allowing Chevron to move the lawsuit from the state to federal court. The justices overturned a lower court ruling that had kept the case in state court and sent it back for further proceedings.
