Swatch MoonSwatch Mission To Earthphase Moonshine Gold Cold Moon: Price, Specs, Availability

First a confession: I own more MoonSwatches than I care to admit. It should never be said that WIRED doesn’t do the right thing when it comes to product recommendations: Swatch diligently extracted a considerable amount of money from me, all in increments of $285. This was undoubtedly the Swiss company’s dastardly plan all along, to lure us in, and then, ever so sweetly, get watch fans hooked. The watchmaking equivalent of boiling a frog. It worked, too: Swatch has generated hundreds of millions of dollars from MoonSwatch sales so far.
But while I’ve been a fan of the Omega Using a burst of Omega’s proprietary 18k pale yellow gold alloy in a slightly different way on each model, they seemed almost cynical – a way of milking MoonSwatch superfans looking to complete the ensemble.
Now, however, just when I thought I was done with MoonSwatch — after going so far as to upgrade all of mine with official $45 color-matched rubber straps — Swatch has managed to trick me once again, And with a Moonshine Gold model: the new MoonSwatch Mission To Earthphase Moonshine Gold Cold Moon.
Awkward moniker aside, this version takes the all-white Snoopy 2024 model (WIRED’s top pick of the entire collection), mixes it with the Earthphase MoonSwatches, and replaces the lower stock strap with an upper white and blue Swatch rubber velcro strap. Aesthetically, it’s definitely a win, but it’s not Cold Moon’s party trick.
On each $450 Cold Moon MoonSwatch, a snowflake is laser-etched onto its Moonshine Gold moon phase indicator, and just like a real snowflake, Swatch says each one will be completely unique. Considering the volumes of MoonSwatches that Swatch produces each year, this is no small feat.
