Tarleton State tops Army in 2OT for second-ever win vs. FBS

West Point, NY – Brad Larson made a 37 yards basket on the second possession of a double extension to give Tarleton State a 30-27 victory against the army on Friday evening for the second Texans victory against an FBS team.
At the end of the regulation, the Army quarter Dewayne Coleman left the match with 57 seconds to play due to an injury after a race. The safeguard Cale Hellums took over and put the Black Knights as a goal on the field, but Dawson Jones, in his first college match, missed the attempted 43 yards in the last seconds.
The two teams made a basket in the early overtime hours, and Jones missed a 35 yards on the second possession of the Black Knights.

Army, the title champions of the American Athletic Conference, finished a sequence of home victories of nine games. The last home defeat of the Black Knights took place on December 14, 2024, 31-13 to compete with the navy.
