Temperatures rise across North India, IMD forecasts rain next week | India News

As winter begins to ease, clear and dry conditions are expected to prevail across the country on Sunday, with minimum temperatures expected to rise across much of northern India. A heatwave warning has also been issued for parts of the west coast.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), a significant change is on the horizon with further western disturbances expected on Monday, February 16.
Rain and Snow Forecast in Northern States
The system is likely to bring rainfall and snowfall over Arunachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad. Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are expected to receive rainfall on February 17 and 18.
Isolated rain accompanied by thundershower and lightning is likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, north Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh on February 17 and 18. Thunderstorms and lightning with wind speeds of 30-40 kmph are likely over Andaman and Nicobar Islands till February 18.
Warning of dense fog and gusty winds
According to the weather report, dense fog conditions are expected in Himachal Pradesh. Reduced visibility may affect road traffic in some mountainous districts.
The weather department forecasts squalls with winds gusting between 35 and 45 kmph, with gusts of up to 55 kmph over parts of the southeast and adjacent southwest Bay of Bengal, extending towards the eastern equatorial Indian Ocean.
Minimum temperatures expected to increase over the next three days
A gradual increase in temperatures is expected in the coming days. The IMD forecasts that minimum temperatures in northwest and central India are expected to rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius over the next three days.
A gradual increase of 2-3 degrees Celsius in maximum temperatures is also expected in many parts of Maharashtra and Karnataka over the next three days, with no significant change thereafter.
In the south, the heat and humidity intensify. The IMD has issued a warning for hot and humid conditions over coastal Karnataka, as well as Konkan and Goa on February 15 and 16. In parts of central and western India, afternoon temperatures have already crossed the 30 degree Celsius mark, giving several cities a taste of summer.
Delhi weather forecast: clear skies and slight rise in temperatures
For Delhi, the IMD forecasts a slight increase in minimum temperatures of 1-3 degrees Celsius over the next four days. The national capital is currently experiencing clear and dry weather, with daytime temperatures gradually increasing under bright sunshine.
The maximum temperature hovers above the seasonal average, while mornings and evenings remain relatively cool. No rain is expected.
For Sunday, the IMD forecasts generally clear skies with mist in the morning. The maximum temperature is expected to remain around 26 to 28 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to hover between 10 to 12 degrees Celsius.
