Doctor who lost job over ‘regrettable’ Texas flood post says sorry | Texas floods 2025
A pediatrician who no longer works for a chain of clinics affiliated with a prominent Houston hospital system after a publication on social networks that wanted voters in a county of Donald Trump, from Center de Texas, “obtains what they voted” in the middle of a sudden flood which killed almost 120 – including many children – presented himself publicly.
“I speak to you as a mother, neighbor, pediatrician and human being who is deeply sorry,” wrote Dr. Christina Propsh after Blue Fish Pediatrics announced on Sunday that she was no longer an employee there because of a social media position which, according to the clinic, “did not reflect the value, standards or mission” of the chain. “I take full responsibility for a comment on the social networks that I made before I know that so many precious lives have been lost in the terrible tragedy of the center of Texas.
“I understand that my comment caused immense pain to those who suffer from indescribable sorrow and for that, I am really sorry,” added Propst in a post reported by the Texas Kprc press station. “I would like to specify that my regrettable comment was in no way an answer to the tragic loss of human life … and … it is a fact that I deeply regret.”
In the position which preceded the end of his time at Blue Fish Pediatrics on July 4, Propest alluded to the way in which Kerr’s county, Texas, had – as the state as a whole – voted in favor of Trump while he was beating the former vice -president Kamala Harris during the white elections in November.
Trump’s presidential administration has since sought to erase the mentions of the current climate crisis and its consequences, one of which has precipitation like that which devastated Kerr more common. The president also thought of “deleting” the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in part so that Trump’s office can be responsible for distributing rescue funds in the event of a disaster and, finally, “give less money”.
“May all visitors, children, non -magical voters and pets are safe and dry,” said the post, who invoked an acronym for Trump’s slogan “Make America Great Again. “The County of Kerr Maga voted to interact the Fema. They deny climate change. Let them get what they voted for. “
The residents of Kerr county have since spoken of losing all their property, including their houses, after the flood in question. They also told the search for what turned out to be elusive answers on the level of preparation of the authorities responsible for protecting their communities.
Soon, the position went to Blue Fish Pediatrics, listed as an independent partner of the famous Memorial Hermann hospital network. The chain of clinics – which was marked by social media users demanding that it acts against Propst – said in a press release that the group immediately placed the author of the message on leave. A statement later said that the author of the post was “no longer an employee” to the channel while expressing “total support for families and surrounding communities who cry, recover and seek hope”.
Many American health care providers are held by their employers – as a condition for their employment – to avoid circulating opinions that could undermine confidence in their profession among public members.
“We strongly condemn the comments made in this post,” said Blue Fish Pediatrics statement. “This position does not reflect the values, standards or the mission of the pediatrics of blue fish. We do not support either a declaration that politicizes tragedy, decreases human dignity, or clearly does not respect compassion for each child and family, whatever the history or beliefs. “
The clinical chain declaration did not say if Propst had resigned or was dismissed. But Wednesday, Kprc reported that Propst – in part – had since published another article saying that she wanted to “apologize to each individual suffering from a terrible loss in this difficult period”.
“The commentary was mine and mine alone,” said the Propest post, in part. “Even in these times of division, some things are and must remain sacred.”
The postal calendar which cost the offense its job caused an offense, published after the communities along the Guadalupe river in Texas were exceeded early Friday by sudden floods triggered by torrential rains. The river increased by 26 feet (8 meters) in 45 minutes after 1.8 tn gallons of rain fell on a region including the county of Kerr, Texas, about 90 miles (145 km) northwest of San Antonio.
On Wednesday, officials reported that at least 119 people died, including more than two dozen campers and advisers to non -denominational Christian Institution of Camp Mystic – with more than 160 in Kerr, supposed to be missing. This included most of the more than 170 missing throughout Texas on Wednesday.
The residents of the County of Kerr who survived the flood spoke of losing their house and other goods.
According to a biography of the Blue Fish website which has recently been rejected, Propest is from New York who graduated from Princeton University in 1991. She graduated from the Tulane Medical School in New Orleans, received certifications from the American Board as well as the Academy of Pediatrics and spent 17 years in the practice of Group in 2018.
