We wish Sandy the best of her next chapter.”

Brondello went 107-53 in his four seasons with the team. The Liberty had a better franchise start in 2025, winning nine consecutive games, only to trip in the coming months while the injuries have wreaked havoc.

She had the support of her players after the team lost in the playoffs last week.

“For anyone who is this kind of Sandy questions here, it’s a resilient group,” said Stewart after the defeat of match 3 against Phoenix last week. “And her back and we have hers. The way she continued to deal with the cards treated with her was incredible. It was not easier for anyone, but it came every day with a positive attitude and a state of mind to put us in our best possible positions and forward in front. ”

Before coming to New York, Brondello led the Phoenix Mercury to a championship in eight seasons with this team. It was hired before the 2022 season by Liberty after helping Mercury reach the WNBA final in 2021.

New York lost in the final against Las Vegas in 2023 before winning the championship last year in a decisive victory in extension of match 5 against Minnesota.
