These days, we often think of memes that capture a particular moment or idea. It used to be cartoons. There is a classic that illustrates much of what is happening now with the shutdown of tankers (it’s not just oil or even other hydrocarbons) in the Strait of Hormuz. I think the drawing in question comes from the New Yorker. If anyone has a copy, send it. In the cartoon, a guy jumped off a skyscraper.
