‘The Thursday Murder Club’s Helen Mirren reveals the word she hates to be called

In a particular scene, Joyce Meadowcroft (Celia Imrie) and Elizabeth Best (Mirren) go under cover, and in her excitement, Joyce says: “It’s always so exciting. I have the impression that we are in one of these Sunday evening dramas about two with bright and fiery detective eyes, to overcome the police in each turn.

To which Elizabeth replies: “No. And Joyce, never use the words” old ladies foues with bright eyes “in my presence”.

When asked if Mirren could relate to Elizabeth’s disdain for this sentence, the legendary actor said: “I hate The word “fiery”, “addition” hate This word, like “fuck off”, fundamentally. She continued to call him a “horrible and horrible word”.
