The Times’ City Section high school football rankings

This week, The Times ranks the City Section’s top 10 high school football players.
1. BIRMINGHAM (6-3): The Patriots have a 53-game winning streak against City Section teams and earn a close victory against Granada Hills.
2. CARSON (6-3): The Colts will face San Pedro on Thursday night in San Pedro in a game to decide the Navy League championship.
3. PALISADES (9-0): Quarterback Jack Thomas throws seven touchdown passes in victory over Hamilton.
4. SAN PEDRO (5-4): The Pirates have a chance to disrupt the playoff seedings if they can upset Carson at home.
5. GARFIELD (7-2): The Bulldogs make fans happy for another year with a 37-30 victory over rival Roosevelt.
6. KENNEDY (8-1): The Golden Cougars are 5-0 in the Valley Mission League and headed for a first Open Division appearance.
7. EAGLE ROCK (7-2): The Eagles travel to Garfield in a game that could decide their Open Division playoff spot.
8. VENICE (5-4): The Gondoliers lost their quarterback to injury but the defense remains solid.
9. CRENSHAW (8-1): The Cougars are 8-1 and are Coliseum League champions.
10. MARQUEZ (7-2): All Marquez’s Elyjah Staples did against Manual Arts was score five touchdowns, make two sacks and recover two fumbles.
