This HP laptop with 32GB RAM and Nvidia graphics is $450 (today only)

Affordable laptops are pretty rare these days. (Which is ironic since they’re usually not very thin, eh, eh.) But today, and today onlyAmazon’s closing site is offering a refurbished HP workstation laptop with 32GB of RAM for just $449.99. Need an affordable machine that can handle big workloads? It’s here.
The ZBook line is HP’s designated workstation series: big, powerful, meant to do tasks that normal laptops can’t handle. For example, the ZBook Power G8 packs an 8-core Intel i7 processor, a discrete Nvidia T1200 GPU with 4GB of video memory, and 32GB of system memory. That’s double the amount of RAM you can reasonably expect on a machine at twice this price, at least in 2026.
That being said, this is not a 2026 machine. This Intel i7 processor is a 2021 11th gen model and the RAM is the slower DDR4 standard. Storage isn’t much either at just 256GB, and the 15.6-inch screen is only 1080p without a touchscreen element. This laptop is built for work, and while the 83-watt-hour battery should last a long time, at 4.2 pounds and 0.9 inches thick, it’s not exactly svelte.
But it has upgrade potential. Two SO-DIMM slots and two M.2 storage slots (one 4th Gen, one 3rd Gen) give you plenty of options if you have parts on hand. The Quadro T1200 graphics card isn’t really intended for gaming, but it can handle way more than any $500 laptop available today.
This is a refurbished laptop and you only get a 90 day warranty. But since it sells for about a quarter of its original cost, these compromises might be acceptable to you. Woot is having this sale today only (April 23) until 1 a.m. Eastern/10 p.m. Pacific. If you’re missing something, check out PCWorld’s picks for the best laptops under $500.
