Trio of Florida Gators named to 2025 Comeback Player of the Year Award watch list
The pre-season monitoring list of the player of the year back of the year 2025 was published before the start of the next university football campaign and included a trio of Florida Gators.
The second -year wide year receiver Redsirt Eugene Wilson III, the junior defensive line player Redsirt Jamari Lyons and his defensive back of the second year Redshirt, Aaron Gates, were among those named. All three have dealt with the adversity of significant injuries and seek to prove a point on grill this fall.
Wilson underwent a hip injury at the end of the season during his second year following a phenomenal first -year campaign which presented its electrical qualities in attack. Last year, he played the first four games of the transport team in 19 receptions for 266 yards and a touch – this score on a current draw of 85 yards of DJ Lagway against Samford – before being sidelined.
Lyon suffered an injury at the end of the season before the 2024 kick -off after recorded 20 plated (10 solo) and 2.5 plated for the loss in 2023, which had set it up for high expectations. His broken ankle required two surgeries and several rehabilitation relays, but he seems prepared for his return in 2025.
Gates suffered an ACL torn in Ole Miss at the end of last November November, going beyond the last two team games – against the Florida State Seminoles to close the regular season and Tulane Green Wave at the Gasparilla Bowl. However, he was an important contributor to the position of the stars, finishing fifth of the team in the plated for the loss with a 4.0 and recorded a total of 27 plated (14 solo), as well as an interception, three breaks of passes, two escaped recovery and a quarter.
About the price of the meeting player
Since 2018, the player’s price monitoring list has been made up of 75 students-athletes who have overcome an injury, illness or other circumstances the previous year. Each player came back in full health for the 2025 season and presented his skills, helping his teams to compete with his greatest potential.
The prize for the return player of the year pays tribute to three of the athletes who have been appointed to the surveillance list as a prize winners. The three winners are chosen by a panel of football writers from the Associated Press college and sports information directors.
