Trump issues profanity-laced ultimatum to Iran over Strait of Hormuz

President Donald Trump sent a crude message to Iran on Sunday, signaling that the United States would target the regime’s power plants and bridges on Tuesday if the Strait of Hormuz was not reopened.
“Tuesday will be Power Plant Day and Bridge Day, all rolled into one, in Iran,” Trump’s message read. “There will be nothing like this!!!”
“Open the F—– Detroit, you crazy bastards, or you will live in hell – JUST LOOK!” read Trump’s message to Iranian leaders. “Praise be to Allah. »
Trump told Fox News chief correspondent Trey Yingst on Sunday that he believes he can reach a deal with Iran by tomorrow — the deadline set by the president for Iran to reopen the strait.

“I think there is a good chance tomorrow, they are negotiating now,” the president said.
If Iran fails to reach a deal, Trump said, “you’re going to see bridges and power plants fall all over the country.”
“If they don’t come to an agreement quickly, I’m considering blowing it all up and taking back the oil,” he said.

Iran has blocked passage through this narrow waterway, crucial to the global oil trade, since the start of the war, to use it as a bargaining chip. Iranian interference in the strait has significantly hampered the movement of tankers along the waterway, causing global oil prices to rise.
Trump’s latest message shows the president is toughening his threats to strike Iran’s critical infrastructure if Tehran does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz by Monday’s deadline.

On Saturday, Trump reminded Iran of its 10-day deadline to reopen the strait, writing: “Time is running out – 48 hours until hell reigns upon them.”
The president has made such threats before before extending them when mediators said progress was being made toward ending the war on acceptable terms.
