President Donald Trump has issued an ultimatum to Iran that if the Strait of Hormuz is not opened within 48 hours, the United States will “wipe out” Iran’s “various POWER PLANTS.”

“If Iran does not COMPLETELY, WITHOUT THREAT, open the Strait of Hormuz, within 48 hours from this very moment, the United States of America will strike and wipe out their various POWER PLANTS, STARTING WITH THE LARGEST FIRST!” Trump said in an article on Truth Social.

Kurt Zindulka of Breitbart News reported that more than 20 countries issued a joint statement condemning Iran’s “attacks on unarmed civilian transport ships” and “Iran’s attacks on oil and gas infrastructure throughout the Gulf”:

In a joint statement issued on Saturday morning, the following countries: Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Republic of Korea, Romania, Slovenia, Sweden, United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom condemned in the “strongest terms” Iran’s recent attacks on unarmed civilian ships, its attacks on oil infrastructure and gas throughout the Gulf and its decision to suspend traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.

“We express our deep concern over the escalation of the conflict. We call on Iran to immediately cease its threats, mine laying, drone and missile attacks and other attempts to block the strait to commercial shipping, and to comply with UN Security Council Resolution 2817,” the group of nations said.

An Iranian leader previously revealed that lawmakers in Iran’s Parliament are “pursuing a plan where countries will pay tolls and taxes” to Iran if they want to use the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the Just Security website, “All ships and aircraft – military and civilian – have the legal prerogative to exercise the right of transit passage through the Strait of Hormuz, provided that such ships and aircraft pass through the Strait of Hormuz without delay, transit in their normal operational modes and refrain from the use of force against any nation bordering the Strait.” »

“Iran’s actions to block the strait are contrary to both the letter and spirit of UNCLOS and applicable customary international law,” according to the website. UNCLOS stands for United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
