Trump Raises the Amount of New ‘Worldwide Tariff,’ Lavishes Praise on Dissenting Justices – RedState
Things sometimes move quickly when it comes to the Trump administration. This is one of those situations. As we wrote on Friday, after the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 against the White House using the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) to enact many of its tariffs, President Trump signed several proclamations and temporary executive orders:
It’s now official, with the White House releasing the text of a new proclamation signed by the president, in which he “invokes[es] its power, under section 122 of the Trade Act 1974, to impose customs duties of 10 percent, from February 24, for 150 days.
Trump also signed a separate executive order that “reaffirms and maintains the suspension of de minimis duty-free treatment for low-value shipments, including goods shipped via the international postal system, which will also be subject to temporary import duties imposed under Section 122.”
In an additional action, according to the White House, “the President directed the Office of the United States Trade Representative to use its authority under Section 301 to investigate certain unreasonable and discriminatory acts, policies, and practices that burden or restrict U.S. commerce.”

Today, the president shares in a new post from Truth Social that he increased the amount from 10 percent to 15 percent:
The message reads:
Based on a careful, detailed and comprehensive review of the ridiculous, poorly written and extraordinarily un-American tariff ruling issued yesterday, after many months of consideration, by the Supreme Court of the United States, let this statement serve to represent that I, as President of the United States of America, will, effective immediately, increase global tariffs by 10% on countries, many of which have been “ripping off” the United States for decades, without retaliation (until my arrival!), to the maximum. authorized and legally tested, level of 15%. Over the coming months, the Trump Administration will determine and issue legally authorized new tariffs that will continue our extraordinarily successful process of making America great again – GREATER THAN EVER BEFORE!!! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP
As my colleague Bob Hoge wrote Friday evening, Justice Brett Kavanaugh wrote a scathing dissenting opinion, on behalf of himself and Justices Thomas and Alito, about the Court’s decision.

On Saturday morning, the president in turn praised the three judges, writing on Truth Social that he considers them all heroes:
