President Donald Trump on Sunday rejected Iran’s latest response to the U.S. offer to end the conflict as “TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE,” warning Tehran it would “no longer laugh” after reports that the regime had refused key U.S. nuclear demands while pushing for sanctions relief, asset freezes, an end to the naval blockade and control of the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran submitted its response Sunday through Pakistani mediators after nearly 10 days of deliberations on the latest U.S. proposal, which would have focused on ending hostilities, restoring maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz and opening a roughly 30-day negotiating window on Tehran’s nuclear program, uranium enrichment activities and stockpiles of highly enriched uranium – issues Trump has repeatedly pressed that it was necessary to end the permanent ban on Iran obtaining a nuclear weapon.

“I just read the response from the so-called ‘representatives’ of Iran,” Trump wrote Sunday afternoon on Truth Social. “I don’t like it – TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!”

In a previous Truth Social article on Sunday, Trump sharply escalated his rhetoric toward Tehran, accusing the regime of spending decades manipulating the United States, exploiting past U.S. concessions to expand its regional power, fund terrorist proxy networks and threaten U.S. allies throughout the Middle East.

“Iran has been playing games with the United States and the rest of the world for 47 years (DELAY, DELAY, DELAY!),” Trump wrote.

Trump then lambasted former Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden for policies that he said gave financial and strategic power to Tehran, accusing Obama of “dumping Israel and all the other Allies” while giving Iran “a major, very powerful new lease of life.”

Trump further highlighted the Obama administration’s transfer of $1.7 billion in cash to Tehran alongside broader sanctions relief, writing that Iranian officials “finally found the biggest SUCKER of all, in the form of a weak and stupid American president.”

“For 47 years, the Iranians have been ‘listening’ to us, keeping us waiting, killing our people with their roadside bombs, destroying protests, and recently wiping out 42,000 innocent, unarmed protesters,” Trump warned. “They won’t laugh anymore!” »

Speaking in a brief telephone interview with Axios after Tehran’s response, Trump expressed his obvious displeasure with the proposal and suggested that the administration viewed Iran’s latest position as insufficient.

“I don’t like their letter. It’s inappropriate. I don’t like their response,” Trump told the outlet.

While Iranian state media described Tehran’s response as “positive and realistic,” numerous reports indicated that the regime had refused to meet several basic U.S. demands related to dismantling or significantly rolling back its nuclear infrastructure.

According to a The Wall Street Journal According to one report and other media outlets, Iran has rejected dismantling its nuclear facilities, refused to relinquish long-term control of its enrichment capabilities and instead proposed a moratorium on enrichment shorter than the roughly 20-year suspension that Washington has reportedly requested.

The reports further indicated that Tehran proposed diluting part of its stockpile of highly enriched uranium while transferring the rest to a third country under conditions that would require the material to be returned if negotiations failed or the United States later withdrew from the deal.

Media linked to the Iranian regime aggressively pushed back on parts of Western reporting while confirming that Tehran’s proposal was heavily focused on ending hostilities, lifting sanctions, ending the US naval blockade, releasing frozen Iranian assets, and preserving Iranian control over the Strait of Hormuz.

Hezbollah-affiliated Al Mayadeen also reported that Tehran insisted that any agreement included an immediate ceasefire in Lebanon and a complete end to what Iranian officials described as the “siege” imposed on Iran.

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz reiterated Sunday that the White House has set a firm red line in the negotiations.

“President Trump has made it clear that he will never have a nuclear weapon and that he cannot hold the world’s economies hostage,” Waltz said during an appearance on Fox News Sunday.

Tehran’s increasingly aggressive posture comes as tensions escalate again on Sunday in the Gulf region, despite the fragile ceasefire largely respected since April.

The United Arab Emirates said its air defenses intercepted two drones launched from Iran, while Kuwait reported the entry of several hostile drones into its airspace. A cargo ship near Qatar was also reportedly struck by a drone, sparking a fire on board the ship, according to regional and maritime reports.

Iranian military officials simultaneously issued new threats related to the Strait of Hormuz, with figures linked to the Revolutionary Guard warning that any U.S. attack on Iranian oil tankers or commercial ships would trigger “harsh” retaliation against U.S. bases and allied ships in the region.

Trump has repeatedly warned that the United States could resume expanded military operations if negotiations fail to reach an acceptable agreement.

Last week, Trump threatened to revive “Project Freedom,” the U.S.-led maritime operation intended to escort commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, while warning that any new effort would reach a much higher level if diplomacy collapsed.

“We might go back to Project Freedom if things don’t happen,” Trump told reporters Friday. “But it will be Project Freedom Plus.”

In an interview broadcast Sunday on Complete measuremente, Trump declared Iran has already suffered devastating military losses, but warning operations could still expand significantly if necessary.

“Well, they are militarily defeated,” Trump said. “They don’t have a navy. They don’t have an air force. They don’t have anti-aircraft weapons. They don’t have radar.”

Trump added that further US strikes remain fully on the table.

“We could continue for two more weeks and achieve every goal,” he warned.

Trump also promised that the United States would prevent Iran from recovering or moving its stockpile of highly enriched uranium.

“We’ll get there at some point,” Trump said. “We monitor it very well. If anyone comes near the place, we will know and we will blow it up.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also insisted Sunday that the operation against Iran was not over, stressing that Tehran still retains enriched uranium, missile capabilities and part of its nuclear infrastructure.

“There are still enrichment sites that need to be dismantled,” Netanyahu said in an excerpt broadcast from a news conference. 60 minutes interview. “There are still nuclear materials, enriched uranium, that need to be removed.”

Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian struck a defiant tone on Sunday even as negotiations continued.

“We will never bow our heads to the enemy, and if discussions about dialogue or negotiation arise, this does not mean capitulation or retreat,” Pezeshkian wrote on X.
