Trump Signs New EO Targeting Mail-In Fraud Ahead of Midterms – RedState
On Tuesday afternoon, President Trump signed an executive order cracking down on absentee and mail-in voting practices. The measure includes provisions that were debated as part of the SAVE America Act. An exclusive Daily Caller story by Reagan Reese has details.
President Donald Trump is expected to sign an executive order Tuesday cracking down on mail-in voting nationwide, the Daily Caller first learned.
The executive order will require the secretary of Homeland Security to create a list of verified U.S. citizens who are eligible to vote in each state with assistance from the Social Security Administration, according to a fact sheet shared with the caller. The presidential action will also require the United States Postal Service (USPS) to only send mail-in ballots to individuals on each state’s approved mail-in voting list. Ballots will now have specific secure envelopes, with unique barcodes for tracking, as required by the order.
Pursuant to the order, states will receive their revised list of confirmed electors at least 60 days before each federal election.
The measure will certainly provoke a legal challenge. The Constitution gives states wide latitude in conducting elections and allows Congress to set general rules; there is no constitutional provision allowing the executive branch to establish such rules. Article 1, Section 4 is the appropriate section of the Constitution; he states, in part:
The times, places and manner of holding elections for senators and representatives shall be prescribed in each State by the legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by law make or modify such regulations, except as to the places of elected senators.

The executive order also directs the U.S. Attorney General to prioritize the investigation and prosecution of anyone accused of mailing ballots to ineligible voters, The Caller has learned. States that disobey this order risk losing federal funds due to the presidential action.
“Election integrity has always been a top priority for President Trump, and the American people sent him back to the White House because they overwhelmingly supported his common-sense election integrity agenda,” White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson told the Caller in a statement.
Withholding federal funds is a frequently used tool, but under President Trump’s tenure it has also been hotly contested.

All of this would, of course, be brought up by passage of the SAVE America Act, the major election reform measure currently stalled in the Senate. President Trump has made passing this measure a priority with the midterm elections coming up soon.
The president previously told the caller that he supported using the filibuster to pass legislation. He added that the White House was working very hard to pass the legislation.
Trump also said he would veto any further legislation until the SAVE America Act is passed.
“This must be done immediately. It supersedes everything else,” Trump wrote in a TruthSocial article.
That’s a good point. Without election integrity, without the SAVE America Act, without ensuring that only eligible Americans can vote in our elections, everything else is water, not stone. What’s more, the Democrats’ ID objection is one of the stupidest arguments in the history of politics, and that’s actually saying something; you need an ID to do almost everything in modern life, but this is the hill Democrats have chosen to perish on — and they might have just enough votes to block the measure, as long as the current version of the filibuster is in place.
