Trump Zings Macron – but Macron’s Iran Response Is the Real Joke – RedState

As we have reported, some of our European allies have failed to provide assistance to Iran. It wasn’t even about offering military aid. They wouldn’t even let us fly over their airspace or use the bases we’d shared for years.

As Secretary of State Marco Rubio said, this is a stark reminder of how one-sided relations with NATO have become.

Among them was France, as President Donald Trump pointed out.

“France would not let planes bound for Israel, loaded with military equipment, fly over French territory,” Trump said on Truth Social. “France was VERY USELESS towards the “Butcher of Iran”, who was successfully eliminated!”

“The United States will remember this!!! » he wrote.

The French straw has just broken NATO’s back

During a speech at the White House on Wednesday, President Donald Trump delivered a blunt response to France’s failure to intervene, joking about the time cameras filmed Emmanuel Macron being punched by his wife and noting that he was “still recovering.”

Even though it’s a joke, I think it’s also a broader comment on Macron and France allowing themselves to be overthrown.

This is really what is happening here with France’s response to Iran. Even if they didn’t like military action against Iran, they are supposed to be our allies. Iran is a terrorist nation. Iran fires on its Gulf neighbors. They are selectively blocking the Strait of Hormuz and harming France’s own interests. What is Macron’s reaction?

“This was never the option we chose and we think it is unrealistic (military means)… We must be able to reopen this strait because it is strategic for energy, fertilizer and international trade, but this can only be done in consultation with Iran.”

Translation? We will bow down to Iran and let them hold us over a barrel. Seriously? Is this how you protect your own interests? It smacks of abandonment to me. Yes, let’s sit down with the terrorists and let them dictate their law to us.

Macron’s response to Trump’s remark was to call it “inelegant.” No, inelegant is not defending your own people.

This weakness tends to come at a price, and France may already be feeling it.

Israel is halting the acquisition of defense-related goods and services from France, the Israeli Defense Ministry announced on Tuesday.

“The Director General of the Israeli Defense Ministry, Major General (Reserve) Amir Baram, has decided to reduce all defense purchases from France to zero, replacing them with domestic Israeli purchases or purchases from allied countries,” a Defense Ministry spokesperson said in an emailed statement to The Hill.

That must represent a ton of contracts that just went away. Good job Macron!

Editor’s Note: For decades, former presidents did nothing but talk. Now, Donald Trump eliminates the Iranian threat once and for all.
