Trump’s New Strait Plan Kicks Off Monday

As we reported, President Donald Trump imposed a blockade on shipping in and out of Iranian ports. This put a damper on their maritime transport and the regime’s economy. This obviously makes them very nervous, which is why they presented a new offer to Trump.

According to reports, there appears to be some movement, which would indicate that the blockade is working.

The first stage of the proposal aims to transform the current ceasefire into a complete and official end to the war within at least 30 days. As part of this, Iran proposes to create an “international reference body” that would ensure that the parties do not return to fighting, alongside a mutual commitment by the United States and Iran not to attack each other and a declaration ending the war in the region.

On the volatile maritime front, the framework proposes the gradual reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Iran claims responsibility for managing naval mines placed in the strait, without however opposing American aid in this area. In exchange, he demands the gradual lifting of the blockade of Iranian ports, in direct proportion to the reopening of the strait. The first stage also includes a compensation clause, which sources said would be worded “in a new and creative way.”

The problem ? You don’t get to the important part – the nuclear part – until you’ve already backed down and stopped the war. The second step is where they appear to potentially abandon uranium.

This step addresses the central issue of the confrontation, the Iranian nuclear program. According to the sources, Iran is proposing a “complete freeze” on uranium enrichment activities for a period of up to 15 years. Once this period is over, it would be permitted to resume the enrichment of uranium to a low civilian quality level of 3.6%, according to the principle of “zero storage”, that is to say no stock of enriched uranium.

However, Iran draws a clear red line by categorically refusing to dismantle its nuclear infrastructure or destroy its facilities. As for the stockpile of highly enriched uranium that Tehran has already accumulated, the proposal leaves room for negotiations over its fate, whether by transferring it out of the country or diluting it to a lower enrichment level. In exchange for all this, Iran demands a clear and guaranteed mechanism to lift all economic sanctions imposed on it.

The problem, even though this is a positive movement, is that it is still far too basic.

In the final stage of the framework, Tehran proposes to open a broad strategic dialogue with Arab states and other countries in the region. The goal, according to the Iranian proposal, is to build a new shared security system encompassing the entire Middle East.

Well, maybe you shouldn’t have attacked them, and they might have kinder feelings towards you?

However, Trump reportedly said on Sunday that this proposal was not acceptable and so they are going to have to come up with a better deal. But it shows that they can be pushed by the blockade which must hit them hard.

The only downside of the blockade is that Iran is still trying to create navigation problems in the strait. This has the effect of blocking shipments from other countries. Even though we don’t have much shipping in the region, this can affect us, especially for gas, which can be affected by the world price. But it seems that Trump has now decided to eliminate this negative point as well. He announced there would be shipping protection Monday morning, calling it “Project Freedom.”

The process, he said, is intended as a humanitarian effort to help innocent people, businesses and countries suffering from the shutdown through no fault of their own.

“Countries around the world, almost all of whom are not involved in the conflict in the Middle East that is unfolding so visibly and violently for all to see, have asked the United States if we can help them free their ships, which are stuck in the Strait of Hormuz, for something they have absolutely nothing to do with: they are just neutral and innocent bystanders!”

“For the sake of Iran, the Middle East and the United States, we told these countries that we would guide their ships safely out of these restricted waterways so that they could go about their business freely and efficiently. »

Again, these are ships from parts of the world that are in no way involved in what is currently happening in the Middle East. »

“I have asked my representatives to inform them that we will do our best to get their ships and crews out of the strait safely.

“In any case, they said they wouldn’t come back until the area became safe for navigation and everything else.

“This process, Project Freedom, will begin Monday morning Middle East time. »

“I am fully aware that my representatives are having very positive discussions with Iran and that these discussions could lead to something very positive for all.

“The Ship movement is simply about freeing people, companies and countries who have done absolutely nothing wrong – they are victims of circumstance. This is a humanitarian gesture by the United States, Middle Eastern countries but, in particular, Iran.

“Many of these ships lack food and everything necessary for the large crews to remain on board in a healthy and hygienic manner.”

Trump said he thought it would be an important way to show goodwill. However, if Iran behaves badly, it has ideas.

“If in any way this humanitarian process is hampered, this interference will unfortunately have to be fought forcefully,” he said.

If they attack ships, they will be shelled. But he’s taking away their last leg now.
