The TSA strictly prohibits a number of items when going through airport security, but one thing it’s surprisingly lenient on is roast chickens. Who would have thought it!

The TSA has explained the strange reason why plane passengers can bring roast chickens in their carry-on bags on board. When traveling, people often take snacks to enjoy throughout the journey, but few would think a whole chicken would be allowed on the plane.

Although some snacks and drinks are not allowed on board, it is possible to enjoy some poultry. Posting on X on Monday, the TSA wrote: “Protein shakes? 3.4 oz or less.

“But roast chickens??? As many as you can fit in your carry-on.” People were quick to react to the post on social media, expressing their thoughts on the rule. This comes as the TSA issued a warning about how to avoid long lines as summer vacation travel resumes.

One person said: “I’ve never been a big fan of the TSA, but this could be a game changer. Another person wrote: “Real people marinate their chicken with protein shakes to get the best of both worlds.” »

A third person jokingly asked: “Can I use this tweet as evidence while y’all are holding me for chickens?”

A fourth, frustrated person said: “This logic is actually crazy. I had to check my carry-on bags last year when I took an international flight and was out of the country for a month.

“I had medicine, makeup, soap and rubbing powder that wouldn’t fit in a Ziploc. But I can bring 80 chickens? That makes sense, man.”

Another added: “We live in a society where 4 ounces of vanilla whey is a crime, but you can technically board a Boeing 737 with an entire farm’s worth of Costco chickens. The system is broken.”

Speaking to the US Sun, the TSA further strengthened its bizarre rule, confirming that “solid foods, such as roast chicken, are allowed in carry-on baggage with no quantity limitation.”

Turns out there’s nothing special about roast chickens in general, just that the TSA doesn’t have much regulation on solid foods when going through security.

Several other items like canned foods, sauce, hummus, jelly, maple syrup, peanut butter, salad dressing and soups are also allowed in carry-on baggage provided special instructions are followed.

Any type of liquid or gel must be contained in a container weighing no more than 3.4 ounces, according to TSA rules.

This comes after the TSA announced a major change last year in an effort to save people time when trying to get to their flight.

For the first time in almost 20 years, passengers do not need to remove their shoes during security checks in some locations across the country.

In a statement shared at the time, TSA said it was “always exploring new and innovative ways to improve the passenger experience and our strong security posture.”

Before that, only passengers with TSA PreCheck could keep their shoes on during airport security checks.

This comes as the TSA is being asked to reinstate an airport rule that many air travelers don’t like after a new warning.
