Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande returned to the big screen to conclude Elphaba and Glinda’s story last fall with Villain: for good.
Directed again by Jon M. Chu, Villain: for good continues the story of the Broadway musical adaptation Wickedwhich absolutely dominated the box office in 2024. Part 1 also earned 10 Oscar nominations, winning two for production design and costume design, and setting the bar extremely high for Part 2.
Besides Erivo and Grande, Villain: for good also stars Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang and Marissa Bode. It was released in theaters in November 2025 and is now officially available to watch at home. Here’s everything you need to know to tune in, including when and where it airs.
What is Villain: for good about?
Villain: for good pick up where Wicked stops – following Elphaba’s (Erivo) confrontation with the Wizard of Oz (Goldblum). Elphaba, nicknamed the Wicked Witch of the West, now lives in hiding. Glinda, on the other hand, has become a symbol of good as well as a public figure. Glinda hopes to protect Elphaba from a real witch hunt, meanwhile, a stranger (Dorothy) arrives in Oz. The second act follows Dorothy and her hiking buddies on Yellow Brick Road from Elphaba’s perspective.

East Villain: for good Is it worth watching?
It’s difficult for a sequel to live up to its predecessor, and Villain: for good struggles to match the magic of the first film. On Rotten Tomatoes, for example, Wicked holds a critical score of 88 percent. Villain: for goodon the other hand, holds only 66 percent. The public, however, is rather captivated by both. Both films have viewership ratings of over 90 percent, although many people have questioned whether two separate films were necessary in the first place.
“At the end, Villain: for good is sure to captivate fans of the Broadway show, the first film, and just about anyone who enjoys flashy musicals. Despite its flaws, it’s still good,” writes Kristy Puchko, Mashable’s entertainment editor.
