The White House launched a mobile app Friday, giving the Oval Office another way to meet Americans online.
The initiative aims to bring the Trump administration directly to the American people, positioning it as a direct line to the White House, “cutting through the noise with unfiltered, real-time updates, straight from the source.”
The White House app sends breaking alerts on major announcements and executive actions; records live broadcasts, briefings and speeches; offers a media library including speeches, behind-the-scenes moments and archived content; and includes a feedback function.
The White House also says the app allows access to consolidated social feeds from official accounts and quick access to “exclusive” content before it is made public.
“From the Oval Office straight to your phone, the official White House app is the fastest, most powerful way to stay informed and engaged with the Trump Administration,” the administration said in a statement.
Users can submit questions, comments and messages directly to President Trump, the White House said.
The president has frequently challenged negative media coverage of his administration and its actions, frequently using the term “fake news” throughout his two terms in office to describe media outlets he considers false, negative, and unfair. Critics have noted that this usage often confuses verifiable facts with unfavorable coverage.
The Trump administration’s anger towards certain media outlets increased when the official White House website created a list of infringing media outlets, seeking to “expose” biased information.
He said the administration was “acting in real time to ensure the American people get the unfiltered truth — no ideological filters, no corporate manipulation, just the facts so they can decide for themselves.”
The president frequently uses his Truth Social to announce policy demands and major administrative updates. He launched the social media app as a “free speech” alternative to mainstream platforms, catering to his MAGA base. This became his preferred approach to expressing his opinions and demands.
