Why an iPod Touch and Dumb Phone Is My Dream Mobile Setup

It has been three years since Apple interrupted the iPod Touch and six since the last time the company has made one. And although her disappearance was inevitable, part of me always hopes that she will one day make a return. Sitting somewhere between an iPhone and an iPad Mini, and associated with a stupid phone, it would be my ideal mobile configuration.
The iPod Touch is an iPhone without the noise
The iPod Touch has always offered many advantages of the iPhone with few disadvantages. He was thin and pochable and directed iOS, which means superb applications and games, as well as iCloud messaging and synchronization. My dream scenario involves a newly redesigned iPod touch with fully updated interns, a larger battery and decent cameras. In short, an iPhone without SIM card.
And what are the disadvantages that do it lack? Without the constant cellular connection, the battery would last much longer than any iPhone cannot manage it, and it would not bring constant distractions and catchy notifications that come from always connected. Not to mention the follow -up.
A new key would be a perfect Wi-Fi product. Used offline, it would be an excellent multimedia device for music, podcasts and games; It would offer cards and would be an excellent productivity tool. When connected to Wi-Fi, it would then bring navigation as well as Imessage and FaceTime, and would offer the complete iOS experience provided in the shape factor of a small iPad.
There is also an additional advantage: it would be much cheaper and easier to replace. Instead of dropping a big on a new iPhone every few years, you can simply take a new touch whenever the battery finally turns off.
The stupid phone ends the configuration
A stupid phone – or, to use the most official (and less insulting), name Feature phone– would be the second essential part of my configuration.
Stupid phones have been declining for a long time, but there is a good reason why they are not completely extinct. There is a small but increasing user that passes to phones as part of a wider digital detoxification. It is also a great influence on my dream of iPod Touch / Dumb phone. It would be a kind of house halfway, where I do not give up all the advantages of having a device similar to a smartphone, but I would just be a little less connected.
A cheap Nokia is a key element of configuration because it undoubtedly offers the most important aspects: calls and texts, reliability and battery life.
He perfectly completes the iPod Touch instead of competing with him. I would have reassured to be accessible at any time, but none of the distractions whenever I was out of the Wi-Fi range.
Two devices are better than a smartphone
My iPod Touch and Dumb Phone combination provides a clear separation between the essential – communication – and everything else. The iPod Touch would manage all the things that would make smartphones fun, but are undeniably less important.
The package would be more affordable in the long term and the devices would last longer. Without cellular radios to drain power, an update button could last much longer between loads. It would take several years before it is degraded to the point where I need to replace it. The same goes for the functionality phone.
But no configuration is perfect, and there are compromises that I should face. There are real drawbacks to use a stupid phone in 2025, and some applications legitimately need Internet access always on. It is true that you can organize one Uber by phone, for example, but it is much easier via the application. And for streaming services also, you need to download programs in advance. It would take some adjustment.
The biggest drawback would be the need to transport two devices, which means more pocket space and two things to potentially forget or lose. But there are also advantages to that. You can leave the iPod at home when you really want to log out, and there is the side of safety. Nobody will want to steal your stupid phone.
My dream configuration
An updated iPod touch associated with a function phone would be an intelligent alternative to an all-in-one iPhone. The configuration does not concern nostalgia; It is a question of rethinking the way I use mobile technology and adaptation to the way I to want to use it. I like the advantages of smartphones, but I would be happy to go out from time to time.
So what is the probability? Not very, but it is not difficult to imagine how a new iPod Touch could prosper in the context of the modern digital detoxification movement. And there is a final difference in the Apple range between the iPhone 16th and the iPad Mini. I think it could be a good compromise solution for those who want iOS and the advantages of a phone, but would prefer not to be always.
