Windows Notepad gets image support, becoming even more like WordPad

Since Microsoft killed WordPad last year, the company has been packing all sorts of new features into its once-minimal Notepad app, hoping to make it a sort of AI-laden successor to WordPad. The last few updates to Notepad have focused on AI, but at the moment Microsoft seems to be focusing on other things as well.
In an exclusive report, it appears that Microsoft will add image support to Notepad, according to Windows Latest. (A feature that has always been part of WordPad, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention it.)
Once it’s here, you’ll see an image button in Notepad’s toolbar, and it will be included in Notepad’s rich set of formatting features. If you don’t want image support, you can turn it off in Notepad settings.
For the moment, it is still in the first tests and only for Windows Insiders. It’s unclear when Notepad image support will be made available to all users, but we suspect it could happen in the spring.
