A Wisconsin county clerk says a Federal Bureau of Investigation agent attempted to interview a county election director at his residence and issued a statement defending the state’s handling of the 2020 presidential election.

“I can confirm that a representative from the Federal Bureau of Investigation visited my elections director’s home and left his business card,” Milwaukee County Clerk George Christenson said in a statement Thursday morning.

“We will follow up to determine the nature of this visit. It is unfortunate that the FBI chose to visit the private residence of the Milwaukee County Elections Director rather than contact the Election Commission office directly. No dedicated public official should be subjected to this type of intrusion simply for carrying out their responsibilities with integrity and professionalism.”

Christenson then defended the state’s handling of the 2020 presidential election as “fair and transparent” and said “this has been proven repeatedly over the past six years by the post-election poll, the presidential election recount, the state court challenge, the federal court challenge, the Wisconsin Legislative Audit Office’s forensic audit, and two additional independent audits.”

“While cooperating with all lawful law enforcement actions, we will defend against any attack on our democracy and defend the rights of Milwaukee County voters,” Christenson wrote. “Our responsibility as election officials is to safeguard the integrity of the process through facts, transparency and respect for the law, and the record clearly demonstrates that these standards were met in 2020.”

Christenson went on to suggest that the FBI’s actions constitute an “attack on democracy.”

In January, we searched the main election center in Georgia’s Fulton County, Union City, near Atlanta, and focused on materials related to the 2020 general election after obtaining a court-approved search warrant. Fox Atlanta reported.

An underlying affidavit revealed that the office was investigating allegations of election irregularities and record-keeping failures in Georgia, a state that President Donald Trump narrowly lost to President Joe Biden and which became ground zero for Trump’s voter fraud claims in the aftermath of 2020.

In March, the FBI subpoenaed Arizona’s 2020 voting records. Several U.S. officials confirmed the election investigation to Fox News, saying the DOJ was reviewing much of Arizona’s data from 2020 and 2024.
