Xavier baseball’s Big East Tournament opener postponed

The Xavier University Musketeers’ first-round Big East Tournament baseball game has been postponed a day due to inclement weather, the league announced on Wednesday, May 20.

Xavier was originally scheduled to face UConn in the first round of the Big East Tournament at Prasco Park on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m.

Now, Xavier and UConn will meet Thursday, May 21, with a targeted time of 11 a.m., depending on if the first game of the tournament between top-seeded St. John’s and No. 4 Creighton can be completed Wednesday night.

That matchup is slated to start no earlier than 7:32 p.m. on Wednesday, the conference announced.

Xavier is the No. 3 seed in the Big East Tournament after splitting a share of the league’s regular-season championship with St. John’s and UConn.

The Big East’s outright bid to the NCAA Tournament is up for grabs this week. Xavier is searching for its first NCAA Tournament berth since 2023.
