Jasmine Crockett Claims Epstein Initiated Infamous Texts With Democrat, But There’s One Problem

Texas Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett tried to defend fellow Democrat Del. Stacey Plaskett of the Virgin Islands about texting with registered sex offender Jeffrey Epstein during an appearance on CNN Wednesday night.
Plaskett narrowly escaped censure in the House of Representatives for text messages discovered between her and Epstein, who allegedly committed suicide in his Manhattan jail cell while awaiting trial in 2019, with the resolution failing by a vote of 214 to 209 due to defections led by Republican Corey Mills of Florida. Crockett began his defense of his colleague with a claim contradicting an observation made by “Situation Room” co-host Pamela Brown during an appearance by Plaskett on the network earlier Wednesday. “I’m not necessarily going to say that’s the case. Now, this is someone who was a former prosecutor. Now, I didn’t sit down and talk about all the details of why Stacey was doing what she was doing,” Crockett told “The Source” host Kaitlan Collins. “I know when she stood up and spoke, she talked about this being one of her constituents. Ultimately, what I know about prosecutors is that they usually talk to co-defendants. They usually talk to the people who have the best information. And what you had was you had the president’s former lawyer sitting there. And honestly, we knew or she knew, or at least Jeffrey Epstein presented it, that he was very comfortable with the president.

“He had more information, registered sex offender or not. The bigger question is, why was the president so comfortable with the registered sex offender, even after he finally got some of his convictions?” » Crockett continued. “And apparently he was absolutely on the plane with him. We know about the birthday card. The bigger question is, why isn’t the president of the United States the one who’s in the hot seat because of her relationship, instead of saying, ‘Oh, you know what, we’re going to take her off his committee because he decided to text her?’ Stacey did not start this channel. Jeffrey started this channel and she took the information.
During Plaskett’s Wednesday morning appearance on “The Situation Room,” Brown asked Plaskett about initiating the exchange with Epstein.
“You initiated the text exchange at 7:55 in the morning,” Brown told Plaskett. “So why were you texting Epstein back then? He was a known sex offender then.”
Crockett came under fire Wednesday for making a false allegation that Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin received political donations from Epstein during House debate on legislation to force the Trump administration to release records on the registered sex offender. Crockett also swore one Monday on CNN after promising host Jake Tapper she wouldn’t do it.
