Motorcyclist dies after crash with truck hauling trailer near Harlingen

A San Benito man riding a motorcycle in rural Harlingen died Friday evening after a crash involving a pickup truck that was hauling a trailer, state troopers said.
Ezra Andrew Duke Villafranco, 23, of San Benito, died from injuries he suffered in the crash after being transported to Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen for treatment, the Texas Department of Public Safety said in a statement Saturday.
The crash happened around 6:20 p.m. near San Jose Ranch Road and Farm-to-Market Road 509, just outside Harlingen.
DPS said in its release that a preliminary investigation revealed that Villafranco’s motorcycle, described as a Kawasaki ER-6, was passing other vehicles in a no-passing zone on FM 509 when a Toyota Tacoma pulling a trailer traveling on San Jose Ranch Road “collided with the Kawasaki.”
The driver of the Tacoma, who was only identified as a man, was attempting to turn left onto FM 509 when the crash occurred.
DPS says they are still investigating the crash.
