Callum Wilson leaves Newcastle as a free agent

Newastle, England (AP) – The former English striker Callum Wilson confirmed his departure from Newcastle after the expiration of his contract at the end of the season.
“It’s time to say goodbye after a few incredible years in the Toon,” said Wilson, 33, who is a free agent in a press release.

The striker, who also played in the Premier League for Bournemouth, joined Newcastle in 2020 for 20 million pounds ($ 27 million) and scored 49 goals in 130 appearances.
“I am so proud to have wore the emblematic shirt number 9 and to have added a little more history. Marking it at the Gallowgate End is really as special as they say,” said Wilson.
Wilson had a disturbed injury campaign last season, but still made 22 appearances, including replacing the victory of the English League of Newcastle against Liverpool, which ended the club’s 70 years for a major domestic trophy.
“We stood strong together through the tops and a few stockings to help the club discover new heights,” he said.
