Whoop, a screen-free fitness device with more than 2.5 million users, announced that it is offering on-demand video consultations with medical professionals to its subscriber base.

According to Whoop’s announcement On Friday, live consultations with licensed clinicians will be offered to users in the United States starting this summer. Whoop touts that clinicians will have access to a set of biometric data collected in the app and how that will help experts interpret a user’s health information.

Of course, it’s probably no coincidence that Whoop’s announcement comes just a day after Google and Fitbit launched their Whoop competitor, powered by Google Gemini.

To support users’ fitness goals, Whoop also partners with health records company HealthEx to provide electronic health record (EHR) synchronization. As part of this partnership, Whoop users can track their medical history, including diagnoses, medications and procedures, directly from the app.

“Unlike traditional healthcare experiences that rely on brief, episodic snapshots, these consultations begin with a comprehensive understanding of the member’s health, fueled by months of continuous data and, when available, blood work and medical history,” Whoop said in its announcement.

Although many of Whoop’s recently announced features will be included in its paid subscription, live video consultations will require an additional cost for users, which has not yet been announced.

“WHOOP is membership, and we take that seriously,” Ed Baker, Whoop’s chief product officer, said in a press release. “We’re always asking ourselves how we can deliver more value to our members, and these upcoming features are some of the most meaningful we’ve ever created, from bringing clinician support directly into the app to enhancing our AI coaching to be more personal and actionable than ever.”

In a statement to CNBCWhoop said the live consultation feature is not intended to replace a primary care physician or emergency visit.

Alongside these on-demand live video consultations with healthcare professionals, Whoop is also adding an assortment of new AI features, such as AI-powered personalized coaching.

Speaking of personalized coaching, this will be accessible through one of Whoop’s new AI features called My Memory, which will serve as a centralized location to view, manage, and train Whoop’s AI. Additionally, Whoop is also a proactive check-in feature, which will provide personalized recommendations to users, such as when to sleep before a big event or reconfigure a workout schedule based on a user’s travel plans.
