Best Webcams (2026): My Honest Take After Testing the Best

That’s a lot of complaining, I know. But if you just need something simple and “good enough”, the Logitech Brio 300 will do the trick and certainly offers better low-light performance compared to an older option like the Logitech C920. If you have decent lighting in your room, the Brio 300 will still be an upgrade over your laptop webcam in terms of image quality.

The gap between $150 and $50 is pretty wide, but honestly there aren’t many great options between the two that I’ve tested. Check my honorable mentions below for other mid-tier options, but truth be told, I’ve yet to see a $100 webcam that really feels like it’s worth the extra money. The one I’m looking forward to testing on my next ride is the Anker AnkerWerk C310, the 4K upgrade over the C200 from a few years ago. It costs $100 and has a larger 1/2.5-inch sensor.

Best PTZ webcam

PTZ webcams, also known as Pan-Tilt-Zoom webcams, are the latest thing in the world of home office cameras. As their name suggests, they are much more versatile than a standard webcam. Essentially, the camera sits on a gimbal and can follow you around a room using face tracking. They can pan left or right, tilt up and down, and use digital zoom. This is a pretty advanced feature set, and it’s probably not the kind of thing most people buying a webcam really need. But if you use your webcam for streaming, giving presentations, teaching classes, or anything else that involves staying in front of the camera while moving around your room, you’ll probably need it. Even if you don’t need First, you’ll probably enjoy experimenting with everything they can do.

There are a few good options, but the best one is Obsbot Tiny 3 ($349). It’s a shame, because it’s also the most expensive webcam I’ve tested, at $349. This is probably more than most people want to spend on a webcam, but it produces the best overall color accuracy. This camera reproduces real colors without looking overprocessed, better than any other webcam I’ve tested, even beyond what Insta360 cameras can do. I still prefer the low-light performance of the Insta360 cameras, but the Obsbot Tiny 3’s colors are more natural. It can even shoot at 120 frames per second at 1080p, although I’m not sure what the use case for that is.

Obsbot also offers a cheaper version, the Obsbot Tiny 3 Lite ($179)which could very well be the PTZ webcam that most people should buy due to its lower price. This is a minor drop in image quality, as it uses a small camera sensor. Most notably, you don’t get as much natural background blur and low-light performance isn’t as good. But it’s one of the most affordable ways to get PTZ functionality without degrading quality too much. And in reality, it’s these PTZ features that you’re buying these cameras for anyway.

In its latest version, Obsbot introduced many new and interesting ways to control the gimbal using AI. It can track objects, track your voice, and gives you a few audio modes that would be useful in specific use cases. For example, we could. There’s even a feature that lets you use preset voice commands to control the gimbal, like choosing between preset angles or zooming. All of the previous software features are still present, which are too comprehensive to list here, but include configuring customizable preset angles, desktop mode, multiple head tracking speeds and much more. There’s a lot to play with, which is what makes these PTZ cameras so fun.

If you like the design of the Insta360, the company offers a PTZ version of the Link 2C Pro that I recommended above. THE Insta360 Link 2 Pro ($250) has exactly the same picture and microphone quality, with the added functionality of pan, tilt and zoom. (There is also a cheaper model, the Insta360 Link 2 ($200).) The main advantage it has over the Obsbot Tiny 3 is that it costs $100 less. This is significant, even if the color accuracy isn’t as good. For what it’s worth, I preferred the way it handled low light scenarios slightly better than the Obsbot Tiny 3. The Tiny 3 was definitely overexposed right out of the box.

While the Insta360 Link 2 Pro isn’t as comprehensive as the Obsbot cameras in terms of AI trickery, I like that you can control the gimbal using your phone to make adjustments. Instead of having to rely solely on desktop software or voice commands, Insta360 cameras allow you to quickly view commands in a browser on your phone after scanning the QR code, which is very convenient.
