States are beginning to impose expanded work requirements and other changes for people receiving assistance from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also known as SNAP or food stamps.

New risks of losing the benefit include able-bodied recipients ages 55 to 64, parents of children ages 14 to 17, veterans, people experiencing homelessness and youth no longer in foster care.

These changes are part of a 20 percent reduction in funding for the program under President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act last year.

NPR wants your thoughts on the threat of losing these benefits. If you’ve already lost SNAP, what does this mean for your current situation and future plans?

If you are a government employee or work in the food assistance sector, we would also like to know how you see these changes playing out.

Fill out the form below and tell us your story. If you are open to having an NPR or member station producer contact you for a story, please indicate so in the appropriate field. We will not use your contribution in our story until we obtain your consent to use the details that will be published.
