Britney Spears Arrested in California for DUI

Britney Spears was arrested Wednesday evening in Ventura County, California, for drunken driving, law enforcement sources told TMZ.

The pop superstar was handcuffed by the California Highway Patrol around 9:30 p.m. last night, and she was arrested by the sheriff’s department around 3 a.m. She was released from jail around 6 a.m. today, according to inmate records.

Britney was alone when cops arrested her in Westlake Village…not far from her home. She was taken to hospital immediately after his arrest, TMZ learned.

CHP officers transported her there to draw blood… according to multiple sources close to Brit. She suffered no injuries and the hospital visit was for the sole purpose of determining her blood alcohol level.

TMZ has reached out to his team for comment.

Brit’s run-ins with the law come just after she scored a legal victory while obtained a permanent restraining order against a Louisiana man who randomly showed up at his Los Angeles-area home after allegedly sharing several “disturbing social media posts.”

The “Toxic” singer herself has had trouble with the law before… in 2007, she faced misdemeanor charges and possible prison time for an alleged hit-and-run with a parked car in Los Angeles. The fender-bender charges were ultimately dropped because she paid damages to the vehicle owner, and a mistrial was declared after the jury deadlocked in her trial for driving without a California license.

Shortly after her hit-and-run, Britney lost custody of her 2 boys with Kevin Federline following certain public incidents regarding his alleged substance and alcohol abuse.
