More fallout from yesterday’s drama in the Chicago courtroom. The original prosecutor in the Broadview Six case, Sheri Mecklenberg, withdrew from the case with little to no notice in late February and announced she was accepting a position as a DOJ representative working for the Senate Judiciary Committee under Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL). Yesterday’s hearing named her as the source of most or all of the grand jury’s misconduct, but not the redacted portion of the misconduct. Durbin’s office announced this morning that she had been removed from her position.
