Wesley Hunt Shuts Down Crockett’s Race Bait – RedState

Republican Rep. Wesley Hunt (TX-38) is an up-and-coming Republican politician. He graduated from West Point, served as an army officer, is very skilled and knows how to handle the media. I interviewed him and he is impressive.
He’s also adept at rhetorically defenestrating his colleagues on the left when they say something stupid, something Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett (TX-30) (for now) does with astonishing regularity. On Friday, a video clip showed Rep. Hunt responding to a question about Rep. Crockett’s assertion that voter ID requirements were a “poll tax.”
Here, look:
🚨 Rep. Wesley Hunt Just Ditched the Mic Jasmine Crockett Slandering Voter ID as a “Poll Tax” 🫳🏻🎤
“My family is all BLACK, and every single member of my family has…WHAT? An ID that can allow you to VOTE!”
“It’s the dog that comes back to this Jim Crow 2.0 argument that I have… pic.twitter.com/oZ4xad5l8N

Look at Rep. Hunt’s body language and strong approach to the response. He is a man who holds all the cards in this debate, and what’s more, he knows it.
Question: Jasmine Crockett said voter ID is like a poll tax. What do you think?
Rep. Wesley Hunt: Voter ID is like a poll tax? Let me tell you something. I have a very large family, and my family is all black, and every member of my family has what? A form of identification that can allow you to vote in an election. I have a three year old little boy. I have a five-year-old daughter and a seven-year-old daughter. Do you want to know what the first thing they were given when they were born? A birth certificate and social security number. So if you think this is a poll tax, again, it’s a return to that Jim Crow 2.0 argument that I’ve already proven to be null and void; it doesn’t exist today. “It’s time to move on. The days of the poll tax and the days of Jim Crow are over.
Jasmine Crockett, we have to admit, is quite reliable in one respect: every time she opens her mouth, something stupid comes out.

GOP Rep. Wesley Hunt Squashes Democrats’ Narrative on Media Question Over SCOTUS VRA Ruling
Democrats, starting with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), are leaning heavily on this “Jim Crow 2.0” argument, and it certainly won’t help them make their case. Democrats, when it comes to voter ID laws, are catastrophically on the wrong side of the issue; it’s something that Americans overwhelmingly favor. Some recent surveys:
Pew: Requiring all voters to present a government-issued photo ID to vote: 83% in favor, including 95% Republicans and 71% Democrats.
Gallup: 84 percent of Americans support requiring photo ID at polling place; 83 percent support requiring proof of citizenship to register.
Rasmussen: 77 percent of likely voters say requiring a photo ID to vote is a reasonable step to protect the integrity of elections.
This is a losing issue for Democrats. But they seem to insist on maintaining this argument, and in 2026 it will hurt them – the only question is: how much?
Editor’s note: The Democratic Party has never been more popular as voters reject its globalist agenda.
