Leaked text messages are usually intended as reputational damage. Sometimes it backfires.

See: Ruben Gallego, Democratic Senator from Arizona. In a series of text messages obtained by Human Events, Gallego joins his own group.

Gallego alleges (correctly) that Democrats “do not allow any [sic] men to men” and “women to be sexy”. (RELATED: Stephen Miller Says Democrats Want to Turn America Into a Version of Somalia)

Gallego continues: “We were the party of the sec [sic] drugs and rock and roll.

“Now Democratic women look like Democratic men and Democratic men look like women.”

Gallego’s only inaccuracy lies in his spelling.

A leaked screenshot of the conversation began with a message from an unidentified Republican caller, advising Gallego: “…I think it’s time for someone with a level head and a solid plan to rise to the top of your party.”

“Oh man, have you met my group?” Questions from Gallego. “I yelled at them all the time.”

Cold-bloodedness and planning are certainly not the characteristics of the Democrats. The party’s image is best associated with anarchy and empty promises that quickly fall to earth.

At this point: The unidentified caller then sent Gallego a photo of Connecticut Democratic Rep. Rosa DeLauro, with the caption on the photo: “If erectile dysfunction had a face.”

“They’re not wrong!” Gallego responded.

DeLauro, 82, is best known for her short-cut purple hair. (RELATED: Purple-Haired Democrat Spends More Than a Minute Screaming at Republicans Over Health Care)

“We look like a no-fun party,” Gallego continued. “Always tell and correct people.”

Sex, drugs and rock n’ roll are a far cry from the modern Democratic Party. Gallego is right on target. Leftism appealed to young people for decades because it was countercultural. Then leftism became the culture. Today, if you really want to stick to the man, you’ll refrain from getting a tattoo or ordering DoorDash.

Gallego responded to the leak in a conversation with ABC15’s Ben Brown.

“It’s very heartbreaking that someone I served with and knew and was very good friends [with] 20 years ago, I decided to… disclose some of these messages. But I’ve been very clear about where I think the party needs to be, I think we need to be a bigger, open tent party, and so that’s just a reflection of everything I’ve said.

At least he didn’t apologize. But if Gallego wants to restore Democrats’ composure, he might start by being a little less sheepish about some harmless jokes.
