Epic says it has proof Apple was scaring users off third-party app stores

The Epic Games store has seen an increase in downloads since the EU digital market law (DMA) has prompted Apple to rationalize its process to install third -party application markets, according to a new blog published by EPIC. The statistics shared by the giant of the game software on Wednesday show that the deposit rate for the installations of Epic game stores on iOS increased from 65% to around 25% after the release of iOS 18.6 in July.
The “User Experience User” for the installation of alternative application markets was introduced in iOS 18.6 Following the EU Commission, which raises concerns in April that “Apple makes it too heavy and confusing for end users to install applications when using these alternative application channels”.
“They reduced the installation flow of 15 steps to 6, eliminating their old fear screen and its deceptive message, and eliminated a dead end that left the user blocked in iOS settings,” said Epic. “For the first time, we are starting to see iOS users install the Epic game store with a success rate approached by Windows users and Apple Mac users.”
Epic says that there are still improvements to be made, however, alleging that Apple’s anti -competitive behavior towards third -party application stores continues to rape the DMA and pushes developers to distribute fewer games via the EPIC game store on iOS compared to Android. Epic also called the Google 12 -step installation process on Android, saying that “the deceptive user interface sabotage of Epic Store game games install attempt at attempts” more than 50% of the time.
