FDA Commissioner Dr. Marty Makary told NBC News that the government “owes” veterans a quick decision on psychedelic drugs that could help people struggling with addiction and suicidal thoughts. President Donald Trump sparked widespread interest in the psychedelic ibogaine when he signed an executive order intended to spur research on it and other substances touted as beneficial for patients suffering from illnesses such as PTSD.
