Google Gemini now lets you import your chats and data from other AI apps

Google is adding a pair of new features to Gemini aimed at making the move to AI chatbot easier. Personal history and past context are important elements in how a chatbot provides personalized responses to each user. Gemini now supports importing history from other AI platforms. Both free and paid consumer accounts can use these options.
With the first option, Gemini can create a prompt asking a competitor’s AI chatbot to summarize what it learned about you. The result may include details such as your typical written communication style, the names of your family members, or your main preferences. The summary from the other AI tool can then be pasted into Gemini, providing Google’s platform with a preliminary profile.
The second option allows users to import their entire chat history with another AI assistant into Gemini. This allows users to reference previous conversations or requests made on another platform after migrating to the Google option.
Anthropic recently introduced a similar memory import feature, so Google may also be hoping to recoup some of the people abandoning OpenAI following its questionable new deal with the War Department. Whatever the motivation, these options should facilitate a smooth transition between providers.
