Illegal immigrant facing enhanced charges in Florida for drunken hit-and-run

In the United States, a Nicaraguaya in the United States faces “improved” accusations-due to its immigration status-in Florida for a drunk flight offense during the weekend, according to the Polk County Sheriff.

The Sheriff Grady Judd said that the deputies arrested Roberto Sandobal-Lopez, 34, on Saturday after having crushed his White Honda in someone’s fence at Winter Haven around 7 p.m. and left.

The deputies were alerted to the accident after witnesses called the Sheriff’s office to report the incident.

Sandobal-Lopez was found by the police walking in the neighboring area shortly after the accident and the deputies determined that he was in intoxication. His eyes were described as “aqueous” and “injected with blood”, and the deputies said that they could feel alcohol.

When asked if he had drunk, Sandobal-Lopez would have drunk six Modelo bottles a few hours earlier around 5 p.m., two samples during a breath test revealed 0.13 and 0.124 tray levels, according to the PCSO.

Sobriety tests have also shown “several signs of disabilities,” said the sheriff’s office.

Sandobal-Lopez was taken to Polk county prison and accused of dui of material damage, of conduct under the influence, leaving the scene of the accident for material damage and of not having a driving license.

Sheriff also reiterated that being in the United States is a crime and, in Florida, immigration status will have an impact on the gravity of criminal accusations.

“In Florida, if you commit the crime of being here illegally, your other criminal accusations are improved a degree; he now faces a serious crime because he has caused damage to property by leading under influence,” said Judd.
