Turkey has seen a rise in anti-Semitic sentiments in recent years, with the regime often welcoming the leadership of Hamas.

Shooting near Israeli consulate in Istanbul months after anti-Semitic Hanukkah attack

Earlier this month, several gunmen opened fire Tuesday near the building housing the Israeli consulate in Istanbul, in an attack suspected linked to Islamic State. However, it seems that the target is police officers rather than the Israeli consulate, inoperative since the massacre of October 7, 2023.

However, Jews were attacked while traveling to an Istanbul synagogue for Hanukkah celebrations in December.

Additionally, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan last Sunday accused Israel of carrying out atrocities against Palestine and Lebanon, while echoing earlier remarks that hinted at the possibility of military action against the Jewish state.
