More on the Fancy Lawyers #3

From the TPM reader J.H. …
I have read with interest some of your articles on the legal academy and wanted to interject briefly.
I have a somewhat unique perspective here, in that I’ve been around some of the most elite legal circles, but I’m not one of them: I have an Ivy League law degree and I know a lot of people who got fancy internships, but I’m a modest practicing lawyer in Minneapolis.
I will say that I see a huge divide at the top of the profession’s elite and where everyone else is, and I don’t think that’s sustainable. While some of the industry’s leaders signed fictitious deals that brought the administration to the knees, every lawyer I know here in Minnesota spent the month of January working for free to keep our neighbors out of the Gulag, and is beyond excited about these issues. It is, as Lincoln would have said, a house divided that cannot stand, and I wouldn’t bet my money on the elites here.
