Nancy Pelosi Crows Over Classless SOTU Moment That Forever Altered U.S. Political Discourse – RedState
To me, it was a stunning moment, one that showed that we, as a country, not only had different opinions about the direction of the American experiment – we were now in the middle of an ideological civil war. Donald Trump had completely shocked the DC Swamp establishment in his first presidency, and liberals were spouting every incendiary rhetoric they could think of and corrupting our legal system to boot (think: “Russian collusion”). Quite simply, they would do anything, at any cost, to destroy the duly elected president.
Even today, they do exactly the same thing.
The infamous moment occurred on February 4, 2020, when the Speaker of the California House of Representatives tore up Donald Trump’s State of the Union address in front of the House of Representatives moments after finishing his speech. Pelosi believes this is a profound statement that will go down in history. I think she’s right that it will go down in history, but not for the reasons she envisions: in my opinion, it will be remembered as one of the most toxic modern examples of banana republic type politics in our country. I imagine the founders would have been dismayed.
But Speaker Emerita still thinks she’s some kind of hero:

“People liked [the moment]”, she asserts in a new interview broadcast on Sunday. Yes, it’s true, many did it (especially leftists) because it represented a siren for opponents to do everything they could to stop Trump, ethics be damned.
In a conversation with ABC’s Jonathan Karl, Pelosi said the defining moments of her relationship with the president were “spontaneous.”
“People like to tear up the speech. I wasn’t planning on going to the speech and tearing it up. I just, the first part, I tore out a page because he was lying. And then the next page, and then the next page. I thought it was a manifesto of lies everywhere, so I better tear up the whole speech. Now the speeches are on strong paper, so you have to do it several times to get it right. But I didn’t intend to. I thought my staff was going to die,” Pelosi said.

Meanwhile, despite the fact that the Russia collusion conspiracy theory pushed by then-California Rep. Adam Schiff (now a senator), herself and so many others, has been completely debunked, she still maintains that “all roads lead to Putin.”
“You know what I say when I go out? I’m leaving here because I’ve had enough of you, Mr. President. With you, all roads lead to Putin,” she told Karl, who noted that the White House released the photo and called Pelosi “crazy.”
Fortunately, Nancy is retiring and will end her poor tenure on the Hill in January 2027. Her heir apparent, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08), has so far proven to be incompetent, lacking in charisma, and nowhere near as effective at rallying the troops as Pelosi, which is hopefully a net positive for the conservative side.
Adios, Mrs. Pelosi, and be sure to send a postcard.
