PSA: Your Twitter account might be locked in two weeks

The social network formerly known as Twitter announced that it was retiring the Twitter.com domain on November 10. This probably won’t mean much for most people’s daily use, with one big exception: security.
The X Safety account posted a message stating that users who use a physical security key or virtual password as their two-factor authentication (2FA) method will need to re-register their key to continue accessing the site. After November 10, the account says, accounts that have not been re-enrolled will be locked. The account states that the change “only affects Yubikeys and passwords,” so other 2FA methods should continue to work properly.
You can re-register your existing security key, delete it or register a new one by going to your profile, then Settings and privacy > Security and account access > Security > Two-factor authentication. To add or change a passkey, you will need to go back to the security settings, enable the Passkey button, and follow the prompts.
While passkeys are physical devices that plug or connect wirelessly to your device, passkeys simply use your device’s existing biometric data (Face ID or Touch ID) to authenticate your account without entering a password each time. The process only takes a few seconds.
