Rockstar postpones GTA 6 release date again by several months

It’s been a wild ride for fans who have been waiting Grand Theft Auto VI. The game was originally planned for a 2025 release, then officially announced with a May 2026 release date. But there have been rumors that Grand Theft Auto VI could be postponed again, and now those rumors have come true.
Yesterday, Rockstar Games announced in a blog post that Grand Theft Auto VIThe launch of has been postponed to November 19, 2026:
Hello everyone,
Grand Theft Auto VI will now be released on Thursday, November 19, 2026.
We’re sorry for adding extra time to what we realize is a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you expect and deserve.
We would like to thank you once again for your patience and support. Even though the wait is a bit longer, we’re incredibly excited for players to experience Leonida’s sprawling state and return to modern-day Vice City.
Sincerely,
Rockstar Games
Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two, also said in an interview:
When we set a date, we really believe in it. We said when we set the final date, if a game needs more polish to be the best possible version of itself, then we’ll give that game more time. And that’s exactly what happened. We feel really good about this release date. It’s the same financial year, it’s a great release window and, naturally, we really support Rockstar’s approach.
When the game finally arrives, Grand Theft Auto VI will initially only work on Xbox Series X/S and Sony Playstation 5 consoles. However, a later release on PC is almost certain. Meanwhile, the entire industry is wary of the $100 retail price.
