These New Govee Outdoor Smart String Lights Let You Customize Each Bulb

Govee offers a new set of smart outdoor string lights that will bring the party to your garden. The smart home device company says its outdoor chromatic string lights are the first of their kind, with gradient looks and special effects for each individual bulb.
CNET rated Govee’s RGBIC outdoor string lights as best value for moneyso this could be a promising addition or upgrade before summer and all those nights out. Here’s what you need to know about them, especially before Amazon’s Big Spring Sale this week.
How do outdoor chromatic string lights work?
You can control lights, gradients and special effects on your smart device through the Govee app and through Google Home And Amazon Alexa. The string lights also work with other Govee devices for ecosystem integration.
Govee lights can be attached to stakes or posts. The bulbs are fully customizable thanks to their grouping encoding technology on the app. You will be able to select the color gradient for each bulb and also configure color transitions and animations.
Govee’s outdoor chromatic string lights start at $170.
How is each bulb customizable?
Govee uses a few effects to achieve this. The bulbs feature what Govee calls “advanced light architecture” and a dual-layer shell to create a gradient effect with clarity and richness of color. These string lights also feature independent Uni-IC control, which allows you to create multi-color gradients in each bulb.
Each bulb features 55 RGB LEDs, up to 240 lumens of white lighting, and up to three cyclical effects, like alternating between red, green, and white for the holidays. They also have over 100 preset scenes and 12 audio-responsive modes, allowing them to change colors depending on the music you’re playing.
Are these smart outdoor lights weatherproof?
Govee outdoor string lights can stay lit all year round and feature IP67 protection, making them waterproof and UV resistant. Govee claims the lights have a lifespan of more than 10 years under “typical outdoor conditions,” according to Monday’s announcement.
All of these features lead Tyler Lacoma, CNET’s Home Tech editor, to say these lights are an attractive option for long-term patio setups, especially since Govee lights are reliable, he says.
“The remarkable point is that these string lights are extra-large and extremely durable,” says Lacoma. “They have an IP67 weather-resistance rating and are designed to be permanent installations lasting at least 10 years, which partly explains their high price.”
How much do outdoor chromatic string lights cost?
Govee Chromatic Outdoor String Lights are now available at Govee’s website And Amazon. Lights cost $170 for over 32 feet and $300 for 65 feet. The bulbs measure 3.76 inches in height and 2.48 inches in width.
